HM Plant Honda confirm BSB future

The HM Plant Honda team have ended speculation that they will make a dramatic return to the World Superbike Championship by confirming that they will continue to race in BSB in 2009.

The British based team who won the WSB title in 2000 and 2002 with Colin Edwards had been linked to a move back to WSB since the early part of the year, but have now decided to continue their comprehensive activities in the British Superbike Championship and at the Isle of Man TT.

The team competed at last weekends Donington Park WSB race where they achieved seriously impressive results with Crutchlow taking second position in the second rain hit Superbike race.

Team Manager Neil Tuxworth said:

“We will continue to race in the UK next year with a similar structure to whet we have this season. We are happy with both of our Superbike riders Leon (Haslam) and Cal (Crutchlow) but so far they aren’t confirmed.

“At this stage the only rider confirmed for next year is John McGuiness who is mid way through a two year deal to race at the TT for HM Plant Honda.”

Whilst the UK based team won’t be on the WSB grid full time next year they will still get another chance to race against the WSB regulars this year when they compete in the final round of the championship at new circuit Portimao in Portugal at the beginning of November.
