Indianapolis MotoGP: Redding just misses podium finish

1 of 1

Scott Redding narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the rain stopped Indianapolis 125GP.

Redding got a great start from the second row of the grid to hold third place for most of the race, but was slowly reeled in by the pack fighting for fourth. If it wasn’t for a missed gear on the lap before the race was stopped he would have managed to hold on to his podium position behind Nicolas Terol and Pol Espargaro.

The race was red flagged with seven laps to go because of rain falling on the circuit. The riders had covered more than two-thirds distance so it was called to a halt rather than restarted and the results were taken from the last complete lap.

Stefan Bradl was the only man from the chasing pack that managed to get passed Redding in time, leaving the Brit to go home with a respectable fourth.

Fellow Brit Bradley Smith had a terrible start, coming together with Michael Ranseder in the opening lap and dropping back to 25th. But he fought hard throughout the race coming back to an impressive 8th position at the red flag.

Danny Webb, who started the race from fourth position, also had a bad start but only managed to gain two places to finish in 15th.
