MotoGP: Andrea Dovizioso benefits from new approach

Honda rookie Andrea Dovizioso reckons a new outlook will help him challenge consistently for MotoGP podium places for the remainder of the 2008 campaign.

The former world 125 champion was running in fourth place in Estoril earlier this month and chasing the likes of Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi when he crashed out.

Andrea Dovizioso used a new more relaxed approach in Portugal and he reckons it proved to be a big help as he looks to build on his superb fourth place in the season’s opening race in Qatar.

The JIR Scot rider told MCN: “I changed my brain for Estoril and it worked.

“I tried to stay calmer because we don’t have a package to win the races and we don’t have enough experience to fight for the victory. So I need to be patient and to work.

“In Jerez for example my riding was too aggressive and that is not my style, so I will stay calmer in the future.”
