Assen World Superbikes: Pitt takes win from Rea

1 of 1

Andrew Pitt has taken the win away from Jonathan Rea in the Assen World Supersport race after and incredibly close 22 laps.

Rea and Pitt dominated the race, continuously swapping the lead between them, but they could never get rid of the rest of the field with Joan Lascorz, Broc Parkes and Craig Jones constantly hounding them and taking their turn at the front.

The racing was so close that even on lap sixteen there were so many bikes close together that they were all fighting to outbrake each other for the lead.

Ultimately it was a fight between Pitt and Rea that came down to the last lap. Rea held first going in to the final few corners but Pitt was all over the back of him and after several attempts to get past, managed to get just enough drag out of the final chicane to beat Rea to the line by a few centimetres.

Brit Jones finished the race in ninth after a disastrous last few laps while fellow Brit Chris Walker took 12th as the lead Kawasaki.
