Brno MotoGP: Chris Vermeulen still waiting on 2009 deal

Aussie Chris Vermeulen has still not signed a new contract with Suzuki for 2009, but remains confident he will be on board a factory GSV-R next season.

Vermeulen is hopeful long-running negotiations with Suzuki management might reach a successful conclusion during this weekend’s Brno MotoGP round, where he is chasing a third straight podium.

Vermeulen, who was third in both the Sachsenring and Laguna Seca clashes last month, told MCN in the Czech Republic this morning:

“I am still waiting. My preference is to stay with Suzuki and they know that. I am sure it is going to happen but I’d like to get something signed sooner rather than later.”

Vermeulen was due for talks with his manager Phil Baker today to get an update on progress, but a deal could be clinched this weekend with Vermeulen due to test Suzuki’s 2009 prototype machine in Brno on Monday.
