Knockhill British Superbikes: Cal Crutchlow: “This will be a hard weekend for me”

1 of 1

Cal Crutchlow has admitted this weekend will be one of the toughest in his career following the passing of his good mate, Craig Jones, at the Brands Hatch World Supersport race.

The HM Plant Honda rider will pay testament to his good friend by wearing one of Jones’ race helmets at Knockhill for round eight of the British Superbike Championship.

The 22-year old Coventry rider currently sits second in the championship standings and is gunning for no less than two wins to close the 99-points lead held by Shane Byrne.

“I’m so fired up for this weekend,” said Crutchlow.

“I want wins – nothing else.

“Knockhill is tight and twisty and it’s up-hill and down-dale but I do enjoy going north of the border.

“I’m hoping the sun will shine but we will do our best whatever the weather.

“This will be a special, but hard weekend for me, after one of my best mates – Craig Jones – passed away at the start of the week.

“I will be wearing one of his actual helmets that he wore this season for the weekend and I’ll be proud to do so and I hope my results will make him proud of me.”
