Oulton Park British Superbikes: Cal Crutchlow over the moon with second pole of season

Cal Crutchlow secured his second pole of the season yesterday for round seven of the British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park – the same place he secured his maiden pole back in May for round three.
The 22-year old Coventry rider set a best time of 1.36.298 yesterday afternoon – a time good enough to put him two tenths ahead of the rest of the field.
And the HM Plant Honda rider who is currently in second position in the championship standings said he plans to adapt his riding style to the nature of the Cheshire circuit.
Ahead of today’s two 18 lap races Crutchlow said: “I’m very happy with my second pole of the season!
“We’re also pleased as we’ve been consistent straight away and I’m looking forward to both races.
“I want a double win! I love riding here, Oulton has a little bit of everything: 5th gear corners, 2nd gear turns and it goes up-hill and down-dale.
“You need to be smooth and consistent so that’s what I aim to be tomorrow!”
Team-mate to Crutchlow, Leon Haslam, will also be starting from the front row of the grid in fourth position with a 1.36.821.
Last time at Oulton Halsam was unfortunate not to take a win, and with the confidence he can run at the front of the field the 25-year old said he’s desperate to secure a victory.
“Being on the front-row is the important thing here and we’ve achieved that,” said Haslam.
“Tomorrow is another day and we’ve proven here before that we can run at the front and that’s what we intend to do.
“I’m hungry for wins after a challenging start to the season, so to be honest I can’t wait to be on the grid for both 18-lap races.”
