Mallory Park British Supersports: Hudson Kennaugh wins wet race

1 of 1

Hudson Kennaugh has taken the win in the wet British Supersport race at Mallory Park with a lead of over 20 seconds from second place man Steve Plater.

The supersport race was delayed after a sudden downpur of rain while the riders lined up on the grid. After the delay it was declared a wet race.

Pole position man Glen Richards led the race early on but was pushed back to second by South African Kennaugh. Steve Plater wasted no time and quickly passed Richards to move up to second.

Plater said: “It was difficult out there and I was really struggling with front end grip. I was happy to hold and keep second because I had never ridden a supersport bike on wet tyres.”

MAP Embassy Triumph rider Richards was then pushed back to fifth at the hairpin by Lowry and Hutchinson.

Kennaugh ran away with it after he passed Richards, leaving Ian Lowry and Steve Plater to battle it out for second.

HM Plant Honda rider Steve Brogan crashed out at Edwinas.
