British Superbikes: Leon Camier to put injuries behind him

Airwaves Ducati’s Leon Camier says he’s ready to put his injury problems behind him and secure a top result at Oulton Park this weekend.

Camier scored a fifth and a fourth on his debut race weekend at Thruxton a fortnight ago whilst still carrying a few niggles from the injuries picked up at the end of last season and during pre-season testing.

“I have worked on getting fitter and stronger and I am feeling really good now,” said Camier.

“I am confident I can overcome my injury issues and set myself higher goals this weekend.

“Oulton Park is a circuit I like and the Airwaves Ducati team have done well there in the past; I think I can achieve a good result and improve my position in the championship standings.”

Camier lies fourth in the championship after Thruxton on 24 points, 21 points behind his team-mate and joint standings leader Shane Byrne.

Byrne said: “I am really enjoying riding the Airwaves Ducati and it is suited to a technically challenging circuit like Oulton Park so I am looking forward to performing well this weekend.

“I achieved podiums there last year and I am confident I can continue my run of good form, secure more championship points and hopefully extend my championship lead.”
