Popular MotoGP pundit Randy Mamola has told MCN of his sadness at not being able to continue his role as pitlane commentator for British Eurosport in 2009.
As part of new coverage plans for 2009, British Eurosport will retain Julian Ryder and Toby Moody next season, but there is no place for 13-times 500c GP winner Mamola.
Ryder and Moody will voice only three European races on site, and the reduced on-site presence has meant the unfortunate release of American Mamola.
Speaking from his home in Barcelona, Mamola told MCN: “I had a great time with British Eurosport and I really enjoyed being able to give my insight into what was happening both on and off the track in MotoGP.
"I have nothing but fond memories of my time with British Eurosport and my time behind the microphone with Toby and Julian.
"I hope down the years the fans have been able to learn something from my commentary, but also I hope I’ve been able to entertain people in telling them about the sport we all love.
"I would loved to have continued with British Eurosport, but as they say, all good things come to an end.”
Mamola will continue to be a prominent figure in the paddock, with his Ducati two-seater duties and his increased role as mentor to British 125GP title contender Bradley Smith.
