A valid offering. It's worked in the past with Harris, ROC, TSR(sp) Seeley, Elf, Moriwaki et al all using GP prototype engines in the different classes. OK, they were never competitive at the top of the leaderboard because that's where the factory bikes and the worlds premium GP riders were. But I'm sure it would breed innovation from the independent chassis designers and teams. Just look at Super Mono. It also works to good effect in F1. I think it's just Ferrari and Honda who have their own engines, and perhaps Renault?  McLaren are world champions using an outsourced engine.  It could, though, require a big cultural shift from people like Honda. How often have we read that riders on leased bikes aren't even allowed to move away from the factory recommended settings on suspension etc.  With that mentality, they wouldn't be inclined to let someone else build their own frames to wrap around an RC212 engine, for example.

You're right, 17 starters, before injuries, is not a race or a spectacle! The answer to me is as plain as plain can be. The factories and teams tell us that the pace of development and cost of electronics is phenominal. The riders tell us that the electronics are detracting away from the quality of the riders, and we say that the electronics are making a smoother, less spectacular show.  Now I wonder what would please everybody?

Just had a look at my profile and couldn't see a hide/unhide option either!?...good job neither of us responsible for Rossi's traction control software then!!

now...what about the future of MotoGP...a grid of 17 for 2009......hardly a "Championship" is it....(that should keep the debate heated...?)
