Can I ride my son’s bike on my fully-comp insurance?

I’d like to take out my own fully- comp policy on my son’s bike; to ride it occasionally and keep my No Claims Discount (NCD) current.

Insurers use a database to prevent more than one policy being taken out on the same bike – otherwise there could be multiple claims on the same incident. You could ride your son’s bike as a named rider on his policy, but that wouldn’t help with your NCD. You would need your own policy on another bike to keep your discount current, as it can expire after two to three years.
