Motorcycle insurance bargains: Suzuki GSX650F

Motorcycle insurance costs are an important consideration for any bike buyer. That's why MCN is highlighting some of the best cheap-to-insure motorcycles out there. This time it's the Suzuki GSX650F.

Insurance group: 12
Engine: 16v transverse four, 6 gears
Power: 86bhp
Top speed: 135mph
Weight: 216kg

On face value Suzuki’s budget and novice-friendly GSXF650F is merely a ‘Bandit with a fairing’. But the GSX650F’s blend of real world performance, practicality, fun factor and value is pretty much unmatched anywhere. Plus it's only group 12 to insure.

The Suzuki GSX650F’s 85bhp 16-valve, dohc four is tuned for real-world versatility but with an exhilarating top end rush. Fuelling mods means it revs a little higher than the Bandit, although performance is unchanged.

The GSX650F is great value and there's plent og goodesi you don't normally see on a sub-£5K machine: span-adjustable brake and clutch levers; effective, widely-spaced mirrors; swanky GSX-R style sports instruments (a large analogue tacho flanked by the now usual LCD digital speedo, useful fuel gauge, plus assorted warning lights).
