APRILIA DORSODURO 750 FACTORY (2010 - 2011) Review

The standard Dorsoduro has always been impressive; much more user friendly on the road compared to the larger Ducati Hypermotard and KTM, but couldn’t match the competitions on track performance.

However the new stiffer racier Factory should narrow that gap if not erase it, and it’s even more mouth watering than before with lashing of real carbon fibre.

The standard Dorsoduro is a little on the soft side the rear sits a little too much on the power, but not any more thanks to the new up-rated suspension. The Factory version has much less sag, both the front and rear are much stiffer, feels very hard. Up front the suspension is all new, 43mm Sachs items which are now fully adjustable unlike the standard version.

The engine remains unchanged on the Factory version which means you get 92bhp and 60.5ftlb or torque from the Aprilia Shiver derived 750 V-Twin engine. It’s really responsive, revs quickly and has enough punch on the road, enough for a top speed around the 135mph mark. Aprilia have also included an engine management switch which enables you to choose between, Sports, Touring or Rain mode. 

The factory version gets a dash of real carbon fibre, ignition cover and front mudguard and combined with the red trellis frame and back finish gives the bike a quality look. The sculpted exhaust covers are now black and cover one of the best looking rear ends on road. In terms of reliability there is no reason to question the reliability of the V-Twin engine, Italia reliability stories seem to be a think of past.

At £7580 is not a budget bike nor can it be considered cheap, but if you compare it to the competition it seem good value and it’s only a grand more than standard model. Italian exotica, with stunning looks, multi adjustable suspension, lashing of real carbon fibre, Brembo brakes, lightweight wheels and come is cheaper than most sports 600cc machines makes it a attractive buy on price alone. The Factory shares the same multi functional clocks which first appeared on the Pegaso. There is a mode switch on the left handlebar which enables you to scroll through the informative screen, there is even a lap timer built in which records max speed, even fuel consumption.
