Greater threat of prisoner escape after police motorcycles axed

High security police operations including moving maximum risk prisoners will be hampered because the motorcycle fleet has been axed, according to rank and file officers.  Moving category A prisoners will take longer without bike escorts, prolonging the threat of ambushes by criminal gangs, according to the Police Federation.  VIP escorts and the safe movement of coaches of football fans to...

I wonder...

..if risk was so great, whether they might have thought simply about just NOT riding them when there was snow and ice about...? Surely the smart move would be to keep the bikes and make better decisions about when to deploy them? But of course that would rely on the decision-making capabilities of senior officers... ah yes, I can see clearly now the brain has gone. :)

Why not

just go the whole way - and stop police officers from venturing out side the police station? It's a dangerous world out there for delicate people such as these.....

What a friggin crock of shite!!!

I think I pi$$ed myself reading this latest 'piggy' crock of crap. What do the bike Officers think to this then? What about getting through traffic in an emergency? What about keeping a relationship between bikers and the Police by having Police riders at events or speaking with riders? What about adding to congestion? What about the trees? What about the...........oh forget it. I hate this Government and the UK in general. Its a wash out, excuse of a naff place to live. As for the fuzz...

Bunch of useless arse monkeys. Again the Cops make a half cocked decision based on total bull$hit. I'll be honest I'm glad they'll be less of them on the road. They do next to naff all for the general road going public anyway apart from slamming us with speeding campaigns and glossing over the revenue collection calling it 'Road Safety'.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was all a part of a bigger campaign by our ever 'fu**ed up' Labour Party to ban bikes altogether branding them an unsafe form of transport to have on our roads!!!! Tossers.

Shame the latest swine flu doesn't stop the real 'swines' in this world. Now you thought I was gonna make a cheap joke about cops being pigs didn't you?  ;)

This is old news anyway

So are they going to sell off the unmarked bikes they have, i.e. the ones that aren't Pan-Euro's and BMW's?

BTW, Durham is keeping their bike fleet and considering that the high risk offenders are kept at prisons in the Durham force area, I don't see escape attempts being the problem that this story is claiming.

Yet another MCN story made up purely out of someone's brainfart.
