Chris Vermeulen excited ahead of MotoGP return

Chris Vermeulen is hoping to show the racing world that he is over his two-year injury nightmare when he makes a return to action in this weekend’s French Grand Prix at Le Mans. The Australian will step out of the wilderness to ride the Forward Racing Suter-BMW machine, with Colin Edwards sidelined after breaking his left collarbone in a qualifying crash...

Great to see him back - he is such a talented rider.  Anyone who can win on a Suzuki and in the rain has got alot of ability!

Hope it works out for him - I would guess that other CRT teams will be looking for more experienced "development" riders to get them up to speed with new machines.  Think the Bird/Ellison situation is consistent with a team principal doubting the feedback of a rider.  Something which we know happens throughout motorcycle racing....

vds45 To old?

Chris Vermulen was born in 1982 I dont know why we have people spouting nonesense about age. He had a knee injury not a knee replacement. These riders are top athletes who train to keep their bodies in top condition not a fat piss head smoker. In case you had'nt noticed some of the best riders in the world now and before are in their late 30s.

Troy Bayliss 2008 champ 39 years old

Carlos Checa 2011 champ 39 years old

Max Biaggi 2010 champ 38 years old

Michael Rutter macau gp winner 40+

Troy Corser, Niall MacKenzie, John Reynolds Steve Hislop. Wayne Rainey said that riders got noticably better after 32 years old. This bollocks about someone reaching their 30s and needing to retire should be left in the 1930s. Read a book.

Why does this article read more like a press release than an interview?

Crasher on what grounds do you suggest that this is the worst performing CRT bike? In Losail it was the fastest CRT bike and in Jerez it may have been last finisher, but remember two ARTs, and FTR and a BQR didn't finish at all so that's not last overall. And Colin remains third CRT in the championship standings even though he has only completed two races. Doesn't look like too shabby a performance. Third out of ten after three races even though he's only compete in two of the races. Some strange definition of "worst performing" you have there.
