Jorge Lorenzo’s engine concerns eased

Jorge Lorenzo’s fears that he might have to miss practice sessions or cut back on track time later in the 2012 MotoGP campaign have been calmed by his factory Yamaha squad. Lorenzo lost a nearly new YZR-M1 motor when it blew up after Alvaro Bautista took him out at the first corner in the recent Dutch TT at Assen. The destroyed motor...

So they're fine until something unpredictable happens & they lose another engine, this time maybe not due to the carelessness of another rider. Bautista removed their safety net... in the name of fairness I think Yamaha should be able to take one of Bautistas engine entitlements. But this is racing... not everything is fair.

Absoultely Hedgey Yamaha should take one of Bautista's engine since he spolied Jorge's race that should make up but you don't always get a rub of the green in our sport.

ctr punishment

he should have to ride pirro's crt for 2 rounds for punishment, i still think jorge will take the title given the last 2 rounds of luck and turn around, but if honda sort the chatter out, or casey just gets on with it then hopefully it will be to the wire, pedro maybe there but one crash may hinder his challenge.

Bautista punishment to easy

For causing the crash and ruining Lorenzo's engine and points lead, Bautista had to start from the back if Lorenzo has to start with a 7th engine he will have to start not only at the back but 10seconds behind from pit lane. The rules should allow Lorenzo another engine seeing as it was deemed to be Bautistas fault. This engine rule only works if the engines are allowed to run there normal life in racing conditions and not on there side or ingesting gravel if the engine is damaged or suspected to be damaged there should be an allowance of one engine rebuild.

"We might have to change one engine just to do 10 laps at the end of the season.”

If Jorge was worried about starting from the pit-lane with a 10 second penalty, then this will really make the last race interesting. And I thought it was only the prospect of rain that made for mid-race drama.

Bautista

Is getting a bit of a hammering, and yes, Assen was entirely his fault. But some who want to punish him further seem a bit off in my opinion. He's not the only rider to ever wipe someone else out. He's no Marco Melandri either. It was a mistake, and it happens in racing. Think he deserves a bit of a break. There shouldn't be restrictions on the number of engines anyway. That kind of 'cost cutting' is not going to save MotoGP.

Jorge must win the title this year

Change the rules in the middle of season and give him extra engine or two, new tires that will suit only him, anything that will help him. He must win!

Yamaha weakness will be found out at Aragon.

To an extent this will hurt Jorge when it comes to the Aragon round weak circuit for Yamaha and the big straights on the circuit engines are vital especially for the M1.
