James Ellison gutted to lose MotoGP ride

James Ellison admitted he was gutted not to get the chance to stay with the Paul Bird Motorsport CRT squad in MotoGP next season. The 31-year-old equalled his career best result of ninth in two out of the last three races but it was not enough to save him from the axe from Bird, who had threatened to replace him earlier...

What did Bird expect? a championship challenge? Ellison is a decent, solid rider and had a decent solid season, don't see Shakey doing much more, feel genuinely sorry for whoever has to ride the Paul Bird own brand bike.

He should have never tried to race Lorenzo

when he was about to be lapped. Very dumb. Buh Bye. Another Brit bite the dust. They just have to send better racers instead of these passport riders that have no right being there. SEE YA!!!

What race were you were watching he never tried to race Lorenzo and do you really think he would even try on a CRT bike against a full factory Yamaha -think you've been eating too many kiddy sweets !!?? James Ellison is a good rider and everyone knows Birdy is one tough s.o.b but I dont see how he has underperfomed first year on a crt you cant expect too much ?? Hopefully see him back in BSB where he'll at least get some decent racing and leave behind the 'Spanish Moto Gp Circus'

Heads beats Heart- unfortunately

A very nice personable block but frankly was never really up to the job , the amount of time wasted sitting in the pits did not help, be it a bike or rider problem ?. If he gets a ride in BSB then the best he is likely to achieve is top 6 , remember he had very competitive bike a few years ago but the results never came.

Bird'y

Thinks he ought to be up there with the front runners, he's always been quick at slagging any of his riders off first mistake they make. If Shakey takes the ride on next year, it'll be the finish of his career as well, he needs to stay in BSB, and go for another title.

Hope James gets a ride sorted for next year.

Paul Bird

I too feel sorry for James he's put in somre good performances and is being very diplomatic about Paul Bird..On Eurosport the commentators were saying that the new engine upgrade James finally got made a big difference but he wasn't allowed to use it in practice but only in warm up and race...I think that tells you how tight the teams budget was,PBM wouldn't be in MOTO GP if Dorna didn't give him an handout.

Ellison is a decent journeyman..

Superstock, Endurance, MotoGP, CRT, BSB, WSB, Supersport..all at a decent level without really excelling and catching the eye.

2009 on the Airwaves R1 in BSB he was 2nd behind Camier, his best year. Camier won 19 races, Jarmes won 4..2 of those were gifts. The bike was in a class of it's own with full WSB electronics.

He's had a nice jolly with his fit Missus the last year, tweeting and giving it the large one..but it's over. Done and dusted. Time to make way.

No shame in that.

For his talent level..he's done remarkably well IMO.

James Ellison

James can hold his head up high without a doubt. When given half a chance he's done his best. Sadly whilst his boss might think he knows it all, Paul will have to learn that this is a different league to BSB. Whilst I would like to see this team do well I cannot help but feel its going to end in tears when we hear of the arrogance of some of or one of the team members! Well done James you'll have the last laugh.
