Kiyo to partner Lowes at Samsung Honda

Honda have today announced the lineup for their 2013 British championship effort under the Samsung Honda banner. The team sees the shock return to BSB of Japanese star and three-time champion Ryuichi Kiyonari, back in BSB after a year in the Asian championship. He will be joined by Alex Lowes, who impressed with a storming double win in the shootout round of...

not kiyo!!

As much as I like kiyo - he was poor in 2011. Don't think he is the right rider for Honda in 2013.

BSB is too rough for him now....

Good Pairing

Yes his last year in BSB was sh@ te but I reckon he will be a title contender next year without doubt and agree it will be good for Lowes as well. Roll on next year.

two top riders on good bikes, if kiyo gets out of bed on the right side, he can beat anyone in bsb, just hope we see it in 2013, alex will be championship contender nxt yr, bsb rules.

Kiyo can make the showdown (probably) but he won't leave it all out there like the others when it comes to those all important last three rounds. As others have said he obviously has the HRC blessing or money that Samsung Honda must need.

Better than 2012

Kiyo Clearly part of the Honda family, but if he finds form he will be a contender,it just depends which Kiyo turns up,however if he brings Honda's backing its got to be good for the team ,Alex, if he continues his end of season form will be a title contender ,last years signings were as I stated at the time, the weakest Honda line up for years, with this pairing even Neil Tuxworth may crack a smile in 2013:biggrin:

Good Advertising

Jonathan Palmer must be rubbing his hands with glee.  Kiyo and Shakey going for a fourth title each?  Must be an advertising policy by Honda.  How did Kiyo do this year in the Asia championship as I note he doesn't seem to be returning as the current Asia Champion.  Maybe Rob Mac can wheel something out for Naill McKenzie to have a crack at a fourth title, wouldn't be much worse than Kiyo in 2011!

Kiyo is a current champion

Yes, it does seem rather odd not to mention it in this article but Kiyo is this year's Asian Road Race Champion, albeit aboard a supersport Honda as opposed to a superbike. He won it at the last nail-biting two race round under floodlights at Losail, overhauling Fujiwara's 16 point lead. I found that out here:

Kiyo back in BSB., but as far as taking another title goes, then I think he's past his sell by date.

What about the Brits then ?

Really disappointed that Kiyonari has been given yet another chance when Hill cannot get a ride. Kiyonari blows hot and cold and often just doesn't look interested in it all.
