I agree but I also believe that this bike is "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and so much better than all the "more modern bikes" that fellow posters keep going on about.

apparantly this is the 'bagger' look that is supposedly popular at the moment in the states, personally i really dont get it, i like some harley's like the 48 and sportster but some of these are so tacky and ridiculous

Well, this Harley-Davidson Street Glide would have looked modern and sporty in 1950. Specific power output, engine, and suspension technology also would have been very competitive in 1950.

And I have complete strangers come up to me and tell me I should have bought a Harley-Davidson when I am refueling my Honda NT700V Dullsville.
