You ask/you answer: Where should I take my sports bike?

I read Michael Neeves’ African adventure article on sportbikes and am feeling inspired to take my CBR somewhere exciting, especially now the sun is showing its face. I have ten days off from work next month and would like to head to Almeria, southern Spain. I am a bit stuck for a route though as I don’t want to miss...

I'm going to northwest spain

first 2 weeks of June. No particular plan. A well sorted bike, a map and a fistful of euros. Hop on the ferry at newhaven, get off at dieppe, head south-southwest and smile.

Madrid?

Are you planning to pass through Madrid? If so, I will take you on a secret route we have here. Wonderful... Also, if you give me an idea of more-or-less which way you are thinking of doing it, I can tell you some great routes. Spain is the Mecca for bikers, believe me!

Hi J&H

Not going via Madrid unfortunately, gonna be going down through France towards Bordeaux, crossing over near San Sebastian and then following the northern edge of Spain towards Lugo. Thats the rough bones of it, but any cool routes or insider knowledge would be much appreciated.

Take it to

the 10 mile section of the A1 near my old house at 3 o'clock in the morning.  Join the dual carriageway and ride the 10 miles to the roundabout at ******* whilst scoping for police on the opposite carriageway, round the roundabout and head back the way you came.  Clear run for 10 miles, straights, a couple of fast sweeping bends, no cameras and nowhere for the police to join the carriageway which you've already scoped out to be clear.  What a way to start a summer's day    ;)
