Andrea Dovizioso: Ducati going nowhere without understeer solution

It blunted Casey Stoner’s blistering speed, shattered Valentino Rossi’s confidence, and now Ducati’s long-standing understeer issue is the bane of Andrea Dovizioso’s life. Huge pre-race optimism that Dovizioso could spring a surprise in last night’s season opening MotoGP clash in Qatar failed to materialise as the Italian struggled with understeer and excessive rear tyre wear. He’d started fourth after qualifying just 0.009s...

Just take the paycheck, Andrea.

The bike is a POS but we already knew that. Cal might have more chance of podiums (in theory) but he is on minimum wage at Tech3 so just keep your head down like Nicky does and put your dreams on hold for the next couple of years.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Not sure what Audi are bringing to the party but they couldn't convince Vale to stay so not a lot would be my guess.

The only way they could have got Rossi to stay was buy a Yamaha and paint it red!! Rossi has now made his point quite clear - on the track like real racers do!

its funny how

When rossi said the bike is a piece of shit all the rossi haters said its because rossi has no balls...when dovi fails and blames the bike " im not surprised...its the best we could expect..." all of sudden thats seen as valid because an average rider( 1 moto gp win vs rossi's105) says so. Ducati finished exactly where the real racing fans knew he would...bottom of the pile...7,8,9,10. Hey at least ducatis consistant! All their bikes suck! I agree with dovi...im just laughing at all those bandwagon pawns that wanted to say rossi cant ride. Rossi knows what a good bike should feel like...ducati refused to listen. Dovi took the paycheck and can afford to wait so im not about to slam him for being unable to fix the duke...rossi told them EXACTLY what they needed to do and they ignored him because it meant having to swallow their pride...now dovi, spies, hayden, and iannone say the EXACT same thing and suddenly its positive feedback...oh well...rossi proved last night what he is capable of on EQUAL machinery, and ducati is still 25 seconds behind the winner...that is the best revenge...proof that rossi was right all along. It looks like the germans at least are willing to do something about it instead of saying( like preziosi) we can change anything but the placement of the engine even though that is the whole reason the duke sucks...without moving the engine around...and making CofG adjustments, everything else is pointless

What Losail clearly displayed to us

Is just how limited the world nr.6 is in his riding and this myth of adaptability attached to him. As Stoner himself said 'Just how good is that Yamaha?'

Dovi was twelve seconds better than Yamaha's new nr.2 was in 2012 on the big bad Duke. Twelve seconds faster on his first ever race on the thing, not to mention qualifying it higher than the world nr.6 did in two whole years. Dovi is obviously more of a man than his over vaunted countryman, able to squeeze more out of the Duke, despite never being of Alien status.

Corse are on the right track. There's a plan and it will be fulfilled. They're rebuilding from a chaotic (rider led) period of two years. Corse progess will be fascinating to follow this year.

You keep telling yourself that Nostro. Your full of crap and we all know it. Having the best bike helps but it don't win you world titles, just ask Pedrosa, Spies, Biaggi, Barros & so on. Both yamaha & Honda are the top bikes and capable of titles but you gotta be a title winning rider to win titles on it. So what if Rossi couldn't win on the Duke. I bet you couldn't win anything if you was the only one competing lol

They've got a lot of work to do to get that POS to turn for more than a few laps. Unfortunately it looks like Audi's only in it for the prestige of owning the Ducati marque, so it's doubtful they'll avail the necessary funds for a redesign any time soon. It's too bad for many riders, that it seems a Ducati MotoGP ride is a like a retirement home i.e. one step from career death.

Nostro

How is Rossi not adaptable? Given he has won 125, 250 & 500cc 2-stroke titles and 990 & 800cc 4-stroke titles and in th the case of the 990 class with two different manufactures. Also how exactly wasw this chaos rider induced? From memory Rossi started by saying it understeers like a pig and the engine is too snatchy (Para-phased) he left Ducati saying the same thing now the new riders and the new team boss have come out with the same points. So given the the consistant nature of feedback what more can Rossi do to fix the bike? If his feedback was all over the place leaving engineers chasing their tails then fair enough but it wasn't.

So how's about you take a step back and consider what you're saying as making baseless accusations without any evidence just hoping if you say it enough people will believe you makes you come across as a cock.

I don't know if its that easy and very expensive but why don't the burn the Duke and start from scratch. Ducati know how to build bikes but they've had this problem for how many years now. Also, employ some Japs as they are master class at building bikes. The money they spent when VR was there, with that sort of cash cold they not do this ? Why would anybody want to go to Ducati and I know a big pay check helps but I'd rather be on half the money having fun.
