Jorge Lorenzo silent on last corner controversy in Jerez

Jorge Lorenzo repeatedly refused to express his views on the controversial last corner overtake by Marc Marquez that left the factory Yamaha rider third and overwhelmed by anger and frustration at the end of yesterday's Spanish MotoGP race. The reigning world champion thought he had second place secured after Marquez botched an attempted overtake at Turn 6 on the last lap. But...

Marquez totally pinballed jorge...it looked like video game racing...marquez said its been done before...smart kid...he remembers rossi 05...jorges lucky its pavement runoff now or vale would have stolen third....the angle marquez took looked like he wouldnt have even made the corner if he hadnt used lorenzo as a bumper!!....going to be a great season for the fans!!!! Bring on the battles!....as i predicted the spanish egos will ensure no holds barred racing with lots of incidents....

Look at it again, there were about 6 feet between them as they were side by side. There was still a gap between them when Marquez was almost a bike length in front. Lorenzo couldn't have not known he was there, yet he still turned into him.

Lorenzo messed up in more ways than one in that corner. He was way too wide leaving a huge gap. Marquez took a gamble and probably wouldn't have made the corner without running very wide but he got a helping hand from Lorenzo when he bumped him back on course. Marquez didn't use Lorenzo deliberately to make the corner - there is no comparison to 2005.

Agree...thats where the spanish egos come in...lorenzo wasnt going to back off to the kid, and marquez wasnt going to be bullied by the world champ. Thats why this is going to be a great year...the three spaniards will fight for glory, and if they all arrive at the same corner together....they all want to be "the man" not the"bitch"....looks like its especially going to be true for lorenzo and marquez as marquez seems to race his teamate and his hero, cleaner. Nice touch adding the"i watched rossi do it...." comment. That will especially piss off jorge as marquez made him his bitch....like rossi made gibbers his...fun times ahead!!!

I don't know. Lorenzo can be pretty brutal himself. I have seen him taken out several riders in his younger days. I'm afraid he won't be as fast and consistent if he decides to retaliate by adopting a more agressive style. Maybe he's keeping quiet so as not to look like an hypocrite for his part and upcoming performance.

Professional

So JL keeps cool, stays professional and refuses to parry words with the press.

I do remember in jerez a couple of years back a Repsol rider standing inside the first corner clapping the rider that punted him off - now that was another display of professionalism haha

MM is going to get Dangerous this year, as did JL in his first full season, and we get to watch it all unfold.
Shame there will be no second yamaha rider to interupt the fun, VR is not on the same level as the top 3

Lorenzo

He doesn't like fairing bashing, much like Pedrosa. Remember when he was commenting on the late Simoncelli? Marco just answered by saying that he'll be arrested to a laughing press conference room.

If Marquez is close and tries a move like that again, it's going to get under Lorenzo's skin. Confidence is a big factor at MotoGP level and it doesn't take much to knock it. If marquez carries on the way he's going, he's got a good chance of taking the championship is his first year.
