Should Cal Crutchlow get Valentino Rossi's M1 next year?

After his excellent showing last weekend at Le Mans, the entire world is talking about Cal Crutchlow. But at the minute he's still stuck with no factory ride for 2014, especially if he wants to stay with Yamaha. Is it time for the factory to reward him, and bump a poorly-performing Valentino Rossi from his factory M1?

In a pure competition, Cal Would get the GOAT's ride... but that's the point isn't it. He's the GOAT. He's the biggest box office rider there is, and having him in Yamaha *will sell bikes*. So should Cal get Vale's ride? Yes but no.

Cal has done well this season, but he's only Tech 3's number one rider because Dovisioso left.

Rossi, Crutchlow and Smith should all be dropped and replaced with some fresh new talent from Moto2

A bit presumptuous to put Rossi on the greatest of all time pedestal, considering some of the riders of the past - that Agostini guy was pretty good in his time, no? And then there literally legendary riders such as Nuvolari - is anyone still alive who saw him race on a bike?

Not if we continue getting comments like Winger's "Yamaha have a problem the bike is boarder line"... do you really think Ducati sold many bikes on Rossi's performance or presence in the team?... many people blame Ducati for his current situation like JustBe " just weird how he seems to have lost his mojo after Ducati." or TrumpetTriple "he's got to get his confidence back after the Ducati years" ...

At the moment he's exactly where he was 2 years ago, but now riding for Yamaha... if they don't start getting him winning races he's going to be the thorn in Yamaha's side. Early days but he's got to improve... drastically.

Hopefully Cal will get a good factory ride next year.  He needs this year to match or better Dovi from last year.

Dovi rode brilliantly and has looked far more comfortable on the bike than Rossi ever did.

As for Rossi, you could see that crash coming from laps back.  He never really looked comfortable.  Rossi is a big sponsorship pull for Yamaha and so are likely to want to keep him.  He will win a race or more this season and be ready for the title next season but his problems are growing.   Marquez is adapting faster than I thought possible.  Danni has matured and MUST win the championship this year.  And Lorenzo is Lorenzo.  You, can't rule him out.

Cal, Marquez and Rossi are turning out to be the real media marketing centers of density for MotoGP (outside Spain, which is currently flooded with 2 wheel hero's)...While the factories pay the bill, MotoGP can't afford to cut either Cal or Rossi from the limelight... The US market has lost its home media draws as their stars mercifully fade to brown dwarfs; the sunsetting generation of Colin and The Kentucky Kid are all thats left as international stars in the land of NASCAR, that's not forward thinking folks... The REAL solution is getting FACTORIES to recommit; Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Aprilia...Cal to Suzuki or perhaps Rossi to develop the bike, and of course Ben Spies has ample hydrogen to fuse, but only if given the right solar system to occupy. CRT wasn't the real answer, but it brought the real problem under focus, now let's regrow the grid the right way...Anyone need a ECU firmware update by the way? There are few sports more costly and less inspiring of its plentiful opportunities for career success, than road racing to American parents, already over-protective from being inundated from cable news about pedophiles and AR-15 yielding wackos...So those factories, along with some key sponsors (Red Bull) need to invest a little energy and travel coin to identify the next Hopkins and assist them on the flight to Europe at an early enough age, certainly before the AMA has had an opportunity to devalue their hopes and dreams. Sorry USGPRU, like a lot of things in American, we're just short on resources right now... Speaking of harvesting tomorrows DNA, credits to Tech3 leadership, who continues to lab test for the next British icon (up on deck, paging Scott Redding...) Meanwhile Yanky road racers are waiting on Joey Roberts and still morning Peters tragic fall...
