Ben Spies ready to return in Indianapolis

Ben Spies has confirmed he will attempt to put a nightmare 10-month injury spell behind him when he returns to MotoGP action at the legendary Indianapolis track in mid-August.Spies has only raced twice for the Ignite Ducati squad in 2013, with the Texan battling to recover from a troublesome right shoulder injury he first suffered last October during a rain-lashed...

Maybe if he gets to test the latest frame variations and to chose the one he feels better feedback with, he might even get close to Dovi's level of performance by Brno ... but he might as well end up being beaten by Crazy Joe. It's way to early to hold our breath, it all depends on his state of mind once he comes back in the saddle. With so many doubting he still has his heart in it, it's really difficult to ignore the possibility of him only planning to cash in the contract and then look for different challenges ...

73mach3 Spies chose Ducati himself when there were better rides then that such as a BMW in WSBk or even a Gresini Honda. I'd be amazed if they chose him to replace Hayden should they fail with their main targets. Great see Spies back on the Tech 3 where he shone but unfortunately that's not gonna happen.

You all forget

that Spies luck in the full factory M1 was less than desirable...

How about Cal's swingarm braking on a bend? That would have boost his morale right? His voodoo year as defined in Motosport:

Qatar GP, 11th: Struggles throughout the race with vicious chassis vibration. Post-race checks uncover a cracked sub-frame, the legacy of a crash during practice.

French GP, 16th: A start-line incident damages his helmet, allowing rain water to flood inside. He couldn’t see, so he stops to change helmets. Finishes one place out of the points.

Catalan GP, 10th: Spies gets away with the leaders, grabs the lead, runs off the track and topples off his M1. Restarts and charges through the pack to tenth.

British GP, 5th: He leads the first few laps ahead of Stoner, then starts going backwards. His rear tyre had blistered. “From then it was just damage control.”

Elbowz rocked on SBK and got a win in MotoGP. Cal has none yet..

The worse piece in the US rounds where the swing arm snaps bolting him down the corkscrew and the engine blow up at Indy. Assen too where the tyre had a chunk ripped off also the brakes overheating after one lap. That Le Mans race look at the lap times closely could have been battling for 4th place nothing higher.

Spent Force ?

Ben's had some bad luck but sadly now seems something of a 'spent force'. Whilst WSB suited him down to the ground, except for a couple of outstanding instances prototype racing proved to be a hill a bit too high. To call the competition fierce at that level is hardly overstating it, that and 'shit-or-bust  this is my big chance aggression' makes the job doubly difficult.
