I should think most riders who would buy something like the big cruisers mentioned ,do so for  reliability , comfort or pose value ,after -all most older riders would not buy them for top speed or thrashing down country lanes - would they ? . On past  experience ,if you visit a "honest" main dealer and keep throwing money at the bike to make it brake ,handle and remain stable at high speed - they will tell you to stop -it and buy a sports bike . I have found the only positive is , if you are a bit heavy handed on a big custom or cruiser the police seem to have blinkers on when you appear on the horizon , and take a lot more notice of the fairing & leather "onesi" brigade .
