Motegi MotoGP: Lorenzo charges to victory on Honda home turf

Jorge Lorenzo has kept the title fight alive to the last round of 2013, as he took a dominating win from the Repsol Honda duo of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa on Honda’s home territory at Motegi. With Lorenzo making a flying start, he was able to lead off the line, with Valentino Rossi slotting into second ahead of the Repsol...

What MM could have done in this race, if he was trailing George on points heading towards the decider in Valencia? Well, we will never know. Even if the race was boring, watching J-Lo ridding 20+ laps without making a single mistake? Pure class. Can't wait for Valencia.

If the roles were reversed, Jorge would have happily took second place.  He closed out his last two championships this way - why would this one be any different.

Jorge had to win this one and he did.

MM needed to score good points, avoid contact with J-Lo (instant grid drop) and bring the thing home.

Job done by both riders...

aspar Honda MCN??

lol didnt know PBM have already got their hands on one considering its still not 100% finished, seems birdies chicken farming millions knows no bounds!

as for MM well done lad, just what he needs to do. I dont care if its not " thrilling" the spectators, hes doing what he needs to do to win a championship, and he did just that.

As for rossi, deary me its almost comical. He isnt providing lorenzo with squat as a teammate is he? they should plaster some condom wrappers, or condom advertisements on his bike since hes making a total cock of things!

Imperious Jorge

They say the Honda accelerates better than the Yamaha. They say the Honda stops and turns better than the Yamaha. They say Honda's test track Motegi with it's hard braking and strong acceleration requirement slow corners is the epitome of a Honda track.

I say Jorge has won seven times on the M1 in 2013. All the above is pathetic excuse making for old nr.6 with no foundation whatsoever, from the likes of the great Fawnicator David Emmett and the rest of the ignorant slavish press all the way down to Wosi.

You've hit the nail on the head, the Honda is still the best bike , but JL is still the best rider and more than makes up for the difference.     He did well and has kept his chances of winning the WC alive.                As for Rossi, it's unfortunate that  he is up against a teamate who is at the top of his game, on a bike that has been built around him.          While I don't doubt that if the two bikes were equal, Rossi might not be up there with JL,(for the reason mentioned earlier) he would certainly be there with the two Hondas.        Rossi still 'has it'  and if they work on the bike over the winter and get the bike more suited to him,  he will be back to alien status.

You might want to put some water on your wine on this one. Yamaha have worked hard to correct all the issues you mentioned and if the pilots were complaining about it, it was not for no reason. Lorenzo had no choice, more to it perhaps the choice of tyres made it easier on him. Honda didn't take much risks here with the Pirellis.

Pressure

Lorenzo really needed someone to put pressure on MM today but sadly this did not look likely to happen - DP seemed reluctant or scared to challenge MM and Rossi started out in the right position only to make a couple of errors resulting in him being unable to back up his team mate and force an error from a charging MM.  If MM is allowed to follow Lorenzo around unchallenged at the next race - MM will become champion.. Raise your game Rossi and DP make MM work for it!!

Nothing like seeing the Championship leader waving back to the team mate when the pressure is on, can't see Marquez doing that, unlike some other champions I could mention LOL
