Rins and Marquez to make Honda switch for 2014

Alex Rins and Alex Marquez will ditch KTM power in 2014 and battle for next year’s Moto3 world championship on a brand new official Honda machine. The switch to Honda has long been anticipated but former 125GP world champion Emilio Alzamora, who helps run Rins and Marquez’s KTM squad, confirmed the plan to switch to MCN during last week’s MotoGP test...

Difficult to know for sure if the best rider won this year, but he possibly did. Miller is the unknown factor. The three Spaniards were, however, the pick of the KTMs. Personally I thought Salom was the best racer, and Rins the outright fastest, and for most of the season Maverick a little disappointing. But all that went out the window at Valencia, as Maverick proved the most consistent. If you look at the table of his season's results on Wikipedia, he just kept on grinding out those podiums race after race.

Similar year to MotoGP in that if you get injured, even for only a race or two, you've lost.

Honourable mention to Ana Carrasco. That girl can ride.

If the bikes are roughly equal 2014 should be all about Rins v. Miller with Marquez jr probably 3rd.

Thought Miller had gone to Ajo KTM?

...or has that changed? Interesting and quite surprising to see Rins & little Marquez switching to Honda machinery, certainly wasn't the bike to be on this year.

It seems like the Honda switch (certainly for young marquez anyway), is designed to groom a future Honda "company-man". With older marquez being Honda's new "Rossi", the doors of opportunity have opened for his little brother, who after gettig his first wn this year, has shown that spark that honda was waiting to see. The likliehood of Alex being a Repsol Honda moto gp rider in the future, just got a whole lot better, now that he's in the "family" too. It seems that KTM's uncontested dominance in both off-road as well as moto 3, has caught Honda's attention, and interest. That can only be good for the fans. I wouldn't be surprised to see that Honda has a fire breathing moto3 bike next year....and the grid will be abuzz talking about "honda power".
