Yamaha rubbishes Ducati swoop for Jorge Lorenzo

Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis has strongly denied rumours that double MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo is close to clinching a shock switch to Ducati for 2015. A wheel hasn’t even been turned in anger in 2014 yet, but with every top rider out of contract at the end of the year, speculation is already rife about the future prospects for the...

Hmmm...

Unlike his team mate 3 years ago I doubt he's under any delusions about his abilities to turn Ducati's fortunes around, but a performance related contract (if they come out with a competitive package for 2014) might be a good deal to have in the bag especially if Ducati choose the standard ECU path & get a jump on the Japanese.

Can't see it

If its true i have no idea what Ducati could possibly have offered him to sign a pre contract before seeing anything remotely competitive from them. I don't think JL would go just for money, Yamaha will pay him whatever he wants to stay. Are Ducati going for the open class? If they are this could be the reason he is considering it.

Or it could just be a load of made up rubbish.

Hard to see any credibility to this rumour

Jorge has already seen the yellow one crash and burn after he and his ego painted itself into the red corner. JL & VR ride with pretty similar styles - neat and tidy. Surely Jorge can be under no illusion that he could ride the red bike in its current guise. The D16 is like the RCV - it needs to be wrestled into submission. Jorge has never had to do that to a bike in his life. He'd get an even ruder shock than the Terrapin I reckon.

Then of course if Corse do actually start to make development progress....

Borrocks?

"I don’t think Jorge sign any deal with DucatI"

If it's borrocks why doesn't he know? Why hasn't Jorge come out & denied it to show solidarity with his team? Borrocks indeed.

Don't speculate

on Jorge 'interesting' Lorenzo's future It's doubtful that any decision he makes will be to his disadvantage - gullible he is not.

Without a title sponsor...

..will Yamaha be able to afford to keep Lorenzo, particularly if they also want to keep Rossi?..
