Bradley Smith in dark on new Yamaha gearbox

Bradley Smith is in the dark over whether his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1 will be fitted with a new seamless shift gearbox when MotoGP testing commences in Malaysia early next month. Factory duo Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi have been racing Yamaha’s new seamless shift gearbox, which helps with stability on upshifts, since the Misano round last September. Spaniard Lorenzo hailed...

Why worry about what you cant control - focus upon what you can.

That was the undoing of Cal, too much time thinking of why cant I, why dont I, I should and he shouldn't. Talent but spolit child Mr Crutchlow

Problem is if Yamaha produce the gearboxes for Tech3, which they could obviously easily do at this stage, then Rossi is likely, more often than not, to finish behond Brad. This would leave the factory's sponsors fuming, wondering what they were spending millions for...

Cal at differant level 3rd season

the differance was clear to see -all the beginning of last season- if Cal had that form in 2012 he might be on the bike with 46 on it last seaon 2013 & 14 to come - and a regular podium or 4th place contender.

As it is  I worry for Cal and Bradley that the Tech 3 bikes will have the wick turned down too much, like back in the Edwards / Toseland days- as they will not finish any races other wise. they might have to go 'Open' Class

Lastly: Bradley's fast lap at testing has been tantalising all winter- lets hope he has the machine that finnished last season in the hands of JL- with the Seamless gear box - did anyone think that it might use a smidge more fuel?

What factory sponsors? Yamaha have a couple of nickel and dime backers but no big cheque has been written to back them in the manner of Repsol.

But you're right in suspecting Rossi would be well against the Tech3 boys having his level of kit. He insisted Yamaha keep the CE11 and JL (as long as he could) a notch or two below him on the machine tech rung. But of course he doesn't hold this sway with Yamaha anymore.

this is copied and pasted from motogp.com.

According to Spanish newspaper AS the telecommunications giant Movistar are closing in on a deal to sponsor the Yamaha Factory Racing team for the forthcoming season. AS report that an agreement between the team and their potential new partner will be announced early in February to coincide with the first 2014 Sepang MotoGP™ preseason test.

The strategy behind the move according to the media report is that Movistar aim to increase international awareness of their brand by associating themselves with riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi - as the pair battle for the MotoGP™ title with their rivals.
