HRC unveil full rider line-up in Japan

MotoGP, Dakar, MX and Trials get HRC status – but no support for WSB. Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is the most prestigious name in motor racing with unprecedented success in their chosen fields of competition. What made Honda pull out of WSB? Seems a strange decision from such a large corporation.

This will allow them to develop bikes quicker and easier for these teams, and hopefully sort out their production bike after such a poor showing in Malaysia this week.

HRC have never been in WSBK

Honda's presence has always been outsourced to external teams right from the off with Fred Merkel on the Rumi RC30, to the CE11 on the Castrol Honda's to the current crop run by Ten Kate for years.

HRC may not of had a works team but they did back WSBK up until 2004. They built the SP1/RC51 specifically to beat Ducati, and if thats not involved I don't know what is. It was the one make tyre rule that finished any involvement of HRC in WSBK because Honda, who had close ties with Michellin, pulled out in protest, and the reason why Kiyonari was racing in BSB for the HM Plant HRC Team on a WSBK spec Fireblade
