WSB Australia: Guintoli takes race two as Laverty challenge ended by mechanical

Sylvain Guintoli has won his first World Superbike race in exactly a year, after red flags brought a premature end to Eugene Laverty’s hopes of a double victory. Guintoli was part of a four way battle for the victory alongside Laverty, Tom Sykes and Loris Baz when the Northern Irishman’s engine dramatically let go, bringing out the red flags with seven...

Quite so Cheap Booze - Laverty blew up an Aprilia last year and Biaggi blew one up in 2012.

Does Skyes still have his beard?

If not he's got a month to regain his Samson strength.

Nice one Ginters. Stay healthy and log a few more wins.

I'm no Suzuki man, but it's kind of nice to see them competitive and win a race after all these years. Who was their last winner Neukirchner?

Sats

And what about the rumour that Aprilia used 39 engines in 2011

Ronald Ten Kate quotes that in 2012 they used 12 engines between both riders.

Typically, we would put in a refreshed engine on a Saturday night before the two Sunday races and use the same engine for the next round's practice and qualifying sessions. However, we could get an engine to last two complete rounds if pushed, before the performance drop starts to be significant
