'Unbelievable' race simulation thrills Aleix Espargaro in Qatar

Aleix Espargaro continued his outstanding winter testing form in Qatar last night by finishing the final pre-season action of 2014 on top of the timesheets. The Forward Yamaha rider was doubly happy after an impressive best lap of 1.54.874 put him just 0.033s clear of younger brother Pol Espargaro. But it was a fast and consistent race simulation that boosted Espargaro’s confidence...

I'm not surprised, particularly seeing as they are racing last years Tech 3 M1 bikes.  I'd like to see him getting these times on an FTR bike with the Yamaha M1 engine, like they sid they were going to!

He doesn't qualify for Factory 2 as he's not using the latest ECU software updgrade, only Ducati are going to use it now apparently as no other teams have the expertise to do so.

Which means only Ducati will be put into Factory 2 if they score the appropriate number of podiums

Which actually means nothing, as unlike the old CRT, which had its own championship, Open and Factory 2 don't. There is only one championship this year, the only bikes in the winner's enclosure will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd finishing positions, no Open or Factory 2 winner.
