bmw shaft clonks

been told by motoradd dealer this is normal.low speed riding on and off throttle makes very audible clonk. 45/50 mm forward and back travel on rear wheel on centrestand in 1 st gear.normal?on a bike of this supposed quality?my "budget"zr1800 shaft drive was noiseless.bmw tech staff at excel show said there is "play"but should not clonk.anyone with same experience ? bike has 20k recorded

What Bmw is it?

The play sounds about right,if you're trying to compare Suzuki gearboxes and bevel drives with BM's it's a waste of time, better go back to a Suzuki if it's silk your looking for.Is the bike second hand?did you purchase it new and what year is it and what service history has it got?
