That's good

But they only have 7 years to do it! How do they expect designers and engineers to develop something which makes a noise in that time?

It's my personal opinion that the greatest noise which comes from modern cars, well at least when not accelerating, is the tyres on the road.

They recognised

that would be a problem years ago?

How about a Mr Whippy tune in the interim whilst they all sit round scratching their heads :winkie:

Blips

The blips at approx 1:50 are some of the funniest I've seen. Actually the whole video is pretty good if you're a bloke. Lesbians might like it also.

Barney.

The last bit with the music!

Barney is right about tyre noise being a major contributor, unless you count my neighbour's TVR. I know they don't make them anymore but there were noise regs back then and I don't know how they got away with making them like that. Not that I'm complaining, it's lovely and I feel less guilty when I'm warming up my bike in the morning.

There is a link within the original link which says the EU is looking for noise reductions for other vehicles over the next decade but it doesn't mention motorcycles. Maybe they're hoping we'll be gone by then!

James

Yeah the smooth sax solo, it's like the soundtrack to one of those "dry humping", "erotic" movies they used to show in the early days, (nights) of Channel 5! :winkie:

Or

what about a couple of playing cards and a clothes peg to hold them by the wheel so they make a noise as the wheel goes round.

I have to say I hate the bloody things. Had a couple of near misses in London admittedly not looking properly but you're on a street no car noises (bloomin unusual) so you think all is OK then BEEEEEPPPPP and you're a bonnet ornament on a Toyota.
