Massimo Tamburini passes away

Massimo Tamburini, the legendary Italian designer of the iconic Ducati 916 and MV Agusta F4, has passed away at the age of 70. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2013. Before designing the Ducati 916, Tamburini founded Bimota in 1973, along with Valerio Bianchi and Giuseppe Morri. The company would use Japanese engines and focus on improving the chassis....

RIP :-( Farewell to one of the greatest motorcyle designers.  Love or loath Ducati, the 916 was an absolute icon.

A sad day indeed - as a child I was hugely interested in motorcycle design (probably more so than the racers of the day) and the man who stood head and shoulders above them all was Tamburini - the F4 in my mind is still the most beautiful bike ever created, with the 916 a close second. RIP.

Very sad to hear of the passing of a man who has given so much to the pleasure of motorcycling. He will be remembered by the masterpieces he designed.

He was legendary

He was legendary.  He not only advanced motorcycle design by introducing the iconic Duc 916 but he followed that with another classic the MV F4.

For those of us who are into design, Tamburini will always remain as THE motorcycle designer of the later part of the 20th Century.
