Jack Miller set for Moto2 move with Marc VDS?

Rising Aussie star Jack Miller is on the brink of clinching a Moto2 move to the high profile Marc VDS Racing squad for 2015. MCN understands the current Moto3 world championship leader, who crashed out of podium contention on the final lap in Mugello earlier this month, has a pre-contract agreement in place with the Belgium squad, which currently fields Spaniard...

What the article on speedweek also stated was that Miller has signed a management deal with Aki Ajo, and there are already comments like "financially worth more now" being thrown around. Also talk of a move straight to Motogp with Honda. The only thing you can say is that VDS is not his only option.

A move straight to MotoGP for Miller could be a mistake. I know he's talking in terms of a long term (4 year) contract, but a factory RCV's no guarantee of success.

2 years of Moto2 could put him in a better position both in terms of how ready he'd be for a full prototype and options. If Rossi gets the 2 year extension he wants, it'll possibly be his last. Ducati could be in a better state by that stage, and possibly even Suzuki. So if he succeeds at VDS he could be looking at any number of factory options. Even if he's still set on Honda, all that potential interest can only be a good thing when it's time to talk contracts with HRC.

Whereas if things don't come off with a straight move to the premier class, he could end up moving backwards to Moto2. If and when he tried to move back up, he'd have the stigma of having failed to cut it, and be older, leaving him with a mountain to climb.

Absolutely right Apex...

..he's a talent that needs nurturing not fast-tracking. Give him a year or two in Moto 2 and let's see what he can do. Let's not forget, there's still a long way to go this season, and there's no guarantee he'll walk the championship as people are assuming..

It's easy to think that every young hot shot coming through is the new Marquez, and that's seemingly how young Jack is being marketed. He's got the skills no question and he's a great character, but it'd be a risky move to push him too quick..

I have to agree

see what he does on a Moto2 bike. Dont shoot me down in flames but look whats happened to Danny Kent, he goes to Moto 2 didn't get on now it looks like his confidence or something has gone. Sandro Cortese and Nicolas Terol are hardly setting the world on fire in Moto 2 are they, both Moto 3/125 champions.

fire in the belly

a move to motogp from moto3 would be a bad move , but only 1 year in moto2 is ok , stoner only spent 1 year in moto2 and was a top ten killer every race in motogp from the go , and that was with no data and a brand new gp team going from two strokes to four , as well as mitchelin throw away tyres , miller is a special talent not just a good rider , he is already being given top teams and bikes after showing what he can do with crap ones , stoner never had that luxury until the end of his career , so its looking good for jack.
