'Number One'......saw this..

Had to get a new front tyre on Saturday ...can't believe the standard S20 Bridgestone was shagged in 3000 miles, they are great tyres and inspire confidence but 3000 miles for a front is not a lot (especially when 600 of those miles were 'taking it easy' running-in miles!

Anyway, I was in Ducati Glasgow getting a new tyre and discovered that they have sold 13 of the new £54,000 Superleggeras. There are only 500 being made. (You can't buy one, you have to be 'invited' to buy one ...eg. you need to have already bought a Desmosedici off them etc).

But not only have they sold 13 but when I was down in the workshop I spotted this.....One of their customers has got the  number one bike!

number 1 bike

he's welcome to it. I wouldn't even waste my time sitting on one of those whether I had £54K or not. Would much rather have a few brilliant bikes with overlapping capabilities rather than that. It'll probably spend most of its life being polished and wanked over and polished with wank than ridden. Pointless.

Nah just honesty. I honestly wouldn't spend my money like this, even if I won the lottery.

Superlight

vastly overrated.

A Pantygirdle with a few trick bits.

I can think of lot more bike(s) I could buy for £54K and get more enjoyment from.

I agree about the fact that for £54,000 there a few other bikes I would rather have....but you are missing the point when it comes to the typical Superleggera customer...Unlike you or I they don't have to 'choose' ...they already own all the other bikes they want. :winkie:

We have a friend who has bought one....he already has a garage full of other bikes and last time we bumped into him he was out on his new ZZR1400 with his wife on the pillion.

As for 'value for money' - he can sell his Superleggera for more than he paid for it ....so that's pretty good value compared to most other new bikes which plummet in value straight away ..and God knows what the No.1 Superleggera is now worth....a lot more than the £54,000 paid, that's for sure.  :winkie:
