Valentino Rossi signs new two-year Yamaha deal

Valentino Rossi has penned a new two-year deal with Yamaha’s factory MotoGP squad. The Italian made it clear right from pre-season testing in February that he wished to clinch a new two-year contract to remain on a YZR-M1 for 2015 and ’16. And a brilliant opening half to the current campaign has got the 35-year-old the new contract he was seeking to...

Nostro

Great to see Yamaha give their "current" number 1 rider a new two year deal, gives you two more years of talking about Terrapins etc etc ... fill your boots fella.

No surprise here

Yamaha Racing Corp are unable to identify a 'young gun' considered to be good enough to replace the 'old boy' on their M1.    Macchiavelli is dead and buried - the old boy must be providing valuable feedback to Yam. without garage walls, histrionics and manipulation eh Nostro ?  Must be his technical and riding skills then.

Ho Ho Ho!

Lorenzo,

I hear, is under sedation today, having heard that Yamaha's No.1 rider has signed a new two year deal, so at the moment there are two factory riders, with big smiles, well done VR46, there's a lot more to come from the old charger.

And therein lies the crux of it Saturn

sadly there's simply no one better to sign as Lorenzo's nr.2 right now. So the old stagers continuing fade from the limelight shall continue for a bit yet.

Another twelve months of Pol development will be interesting to watch though.

Pol could suprise us and step up to the mark, but looking at all the best riders we've seen come through Rossi / Stoner / Lorenzo / Pedrosa, they've all seemed to have been much stonger from the off. IMHO

well deserved, who are you going to replace him with that will do a better job, seeing as even Lorenzo is behind him.

All well and good, but ...

.... what Yamaha need is an answer to Marky-Marc.  Battling for second place is not good enough - they should work harder on a succession plan.

Second is way better than 4th or 5th in the champioship.

What Rossi is doing for Yamaha Racing is to prepare the future for the new wave of riders and he is the ONLY guy in Moto GP with the right set of skills to achieve that.

Look at the Moto2 school of riding, it suits the RC perfectly, it needs to be riden on the brake and gas sliding in and out corners, and this way is way faster than corner speed only as the M1 was developed since mid-2010.

It takes a lot of time to bring things back to normal in this team and factory, as K.R was saying about Yamaha, the worst thing that ever can happen to them is winning a title, because they just forget to work on the bike and keep winning.

Yamaha Racing knows that too well.

Bradl's a Moto2 kid, constantly sliding

Maybe Yamaha should sign him to beat Marquez ?
