Pedrosa to remain with Repsol Honda until 2016

Dani Pedrosa has announced that he will remain part of the Repsol Honda squad alongside Marc Marquez for another two years, signing a deal that will see him remain a part of the official team until the end of the 2016 season. The deal will see Pedrosa see out an incredible fifteen years with Honda, in which time he has won...

Unsurprising

Pretty much to be expected, difficult to see where else he would have gone.  The only place I could have imagined that he could have gone (that could really afford him) was Yamaha is Jorge jumps ship or swapped seats.  Suzuki were never going to be able to tempt him off a Honda to an unproven machine with the wage power they have, and the Ducati would have finished the frail Pedro off quicker than aone of the greedy italians eating a bolognese.  On his day Dani is almost unbeatable, if only he could string that together across a season...

Suprised

Not suprised that HRC have re-signed Dani.  But i am suprised that they have signed him for two years.

Would have thought that they would have gave him a one year contract, then have the option for year two.  This way Honda could see who of the up and coming riders would be worthy of a works ride in 2016

Like redracer said  On his day he is un-beatable.  But never seems to be able to string a season together

Only one works bike left up for grabs now though!!

Don’t see that as a big shock. Looking down the grid there ain’t really anyone better available to ride the RCV. Anyone would struggle to make a case for taking Dani’s seat away from him. He’s no Marquez but he’s a long way from been one of the also rans.

Sweet

This is as much about keeping Marquez sweet as anything. Dani is clearly no threat to Marquez over a season and so his life is easy peasy. Rossi is hacking at his heels but lacks just that last 10% and Lorenzo is whinging like a girl. Honda have just guaranteed Marquez for the title for the next 3 years.

Well Thats the Factory seats wrapped up

Maybe a bit suprised DP was signed for two years but I'm sure Hondas next big signing will get a factory contract and support at LCR. Hondas current Sattelite riders look prety unlikely to keep their seats this year so there should be two decent seats up for grabs.

I can't see Jlo seriously considering a Ducati switch so thats the Yamaha seats all but sewn up. Smith likely to lose his seat to Rabat unless VDS come through with a leased M1 Engine and Kalex frame.

The only ‘Factory’ ride for 2015 still with a question mark must be Crutchlow’s, he has contract clause after year one. And it’s probably Ducati’s thinking that a number of other riders would get their bike higher up than 16th in the championship, Equally Crutchlow must be secretly wishing he can be released, if he has a Suzuki offer he’d be wise to take it. Even on the untride Suzi I reckon his results would improve.
