job offers are like buses

I was getting particularly twitchy about my future as redundancy date approaches but today got two firm offers and a tentative from a third firm to be confirmed next week.

I know I am bloody lucky lot of folks as good as, if not better than, me have been out of work.

I guess it must be true B*llsh*t baffles brains.

The sunshine is brighter today and the grass is greener, and the beers WILL be sweeter

jobs

was same for me when after my bike accident i was made redundant.. actually, that was a massive coincidence, as my (past) company was in serious trouble anyway (the UK is incapable of running industry!!!)...  But, in the end I got a good replacement job... but it takes time.

I think the job market goes through peaks and troughs. at the peak you get 3 offer.. at a trough it can be as silent as the grave.

Thanks folks

Shad ... I feel sure a man of your calibre will not be out of work long at all. I wish you all the best in your job hunting sir.

Kam, Sorry do you want ketchup with that????

Geoff, My industry tends to be a "lag" industry that is when the economy comes out of recession we have historically then been hit. In the past we have tended to see an increase business in a recession. Telecoms. Companies stop sending people on jollies so they get more use out of their comms during a recession. They see it as a way of reducing other costs. Then when the recession ends business travel picks up and other reasons of course and comms spending tends to take a hit.

All, just thanks. Really is a bloody weight off hitting the big hawaii birthday last year I was worried that I had also hit the peak of my earnings potential and it was going to be down hill from here on in.

obe...

i know what you mean, i'm sure prospective employers look at my CV and think "past it...!"   I've taken my d.o.b. off, but it doesn't take Einstein to work it out with work and education history...
