Sachsenring MotoGP: Marquez wins after bizarre start

Marc Marquez made it nine wins in nine races at the Sachsenring on Sunday, despite having to start the race from pit lane. 20 minutes before the race rain began to fall, meaning the majority of the field took to the grid on their wet bikes. Stefan Bradl was the only notable exception, who switched to dry tyres before the warm...

Strange race

Flag to flag racing is getting complicated. It would  have been better to let them change bikes and line up on the grid again. If one them dropped and wiped out the grid what a farce.

Final result would not have changed. Marquez is wonder.

Half-Time..

..and MM93 is 9-0 up !

Sure..he has the best package, but his ability to just deal with it, whatever, is impressive.

Dani just showed us why he's got a new contract.

Good to see Jorge dealing with his shit and putting in a good performance.

Vale will be disappointed, but should take encouragement from a more than respectable first 45 minutes. The 2nd half battle between the Works Yamaha men will provide much interest..

Iannone..played a blinder and must have increased his market value at just the right time.

Aleix..? I'd like to see what Dovi - or a proven commodity - could do on that bike, for comparison.

Shame we didn't see the fight for 7th..Nice to see Cal battling and top stuff from Redding, who had them in sight.

imperturbable

seems be one of the words for Marquez Wosi.

Jorge seemed a lot better this weekend, perhaps having less options has settled him, or he has started to adapt (or decided to adapt) to  new conditions rather than just being annoyed by them.

Can't see him catching Valentino in the championship without winning some races, which still doesn't look very likely.

True

Iannone outclassed Dovi and Sissy today. Joe's starting to live up to expectations. Someone gives him a proper bike ffs.

Another great win

from Marquez. The boy's really a one off. Shrugs off a monster crash, keeps his cool and wins again.  Not frightened by riding a 260 bhp bike in damp conditions but nearly craps himself at the sight of a wasp. Priceless. Good to see JL sort out his demons to get a podium.  Bradl took a gamble that it would rain again so had slicks but steel discs.  Didn't go his way.  Felt sorry for Smith.  Max effort Max pain.  Great ride again by Ianone.

Now my hearing isn't great but did Crutchlow say Dovi lost them both several places by doing 3 laps in front of CC at 2 seconds off the pace.  If that's right why didn't Crutchlow go past.  Oh and his team chose the soft front Tyre when he wanted a hard Tyre.  Not his fault again. Honestly. Sack him now.

5th

was a result seldom achieved by a Pramac/D'Antin/whatever Ducati in 2007.

I re-watched most of the 2010 moto 2 season

And Iannone was a corner speed monster, sweeping through turns like a boss.A pity Ducati's weak point is a lack of corner speed.

18/18 is possible

From what we've seen today, we can deduce that Marquez can not only win in all conditions, but win convincingly. To be honest, the only person I can see beating him is Pedrosa, but not in a straight fight. Dani would have to have already escaped at the front to be Marquez. The Yamaha's just aren't there, on a good day, one or two of them might be able to give the Honda's a fight, but I don't think either of them will be able to give Marquez a run for the Championship, and with the likelihood that Pedrosa will escape at the front for the next 9 races (assuming Marquez finishes 2nd in every race), then I think Marquez has it won.

Re:Tom Sykes just done a 1,21.8 around Lacuna. Dovi in qualifying in 2013 went around in 1.22.026 beaten by a road bike ridden by a Yorkshireman. ??? What was that all about? Appearing to be a very big Vale fan are you trying to insinuate the Yorkshireman deserves a works Ducati ride? WSB is boring and virtually dead! BTW way the only thing about Tom's Kwaka anything like a road bike is the external appearance. It is far closer to a GP bike than a road bike. These excessive bendy "road bikes" are the reason Britain has suffered in GP's for so long. WSB needed to reign in costs, suspension and electronics a decade ago. Shot themselves in the foot and I cannot wait for a return to real WSB. So Sykes, on a bike he has taken years to make competitive as all the most desireable talent went elsewhere set a time quicker than the worst works pile of crap on the GP grid? Why are Ducati so poor.... because the Flammini bros aren't in GP to give the Italian firm weight, cc, or any other advantage they could to make WSB the World Ducati SBK championship. So what Sykes? There were 7 more bikes in front of Dovi..... what is your point? Kawasaki have no GP effort so I nominate Sykes to represent on his "Ninja". Take Sykes off that Kwaka and he wil be in the wilderness like Lowes, Sofu, and Josh Herrin. Real Race bikes...... Big fish, little pond.... big wake up when you hit the cold water of truth. Must say Lowes will get somewhere with enough support.
