Question...bike electrics

I charged up the battery on the SV, (I had it go flat just the other week). The voltage reading on the battery at rest was about 12.5

The voltage reading on the battery at tick over was about 14.6

Does this seem about right, anyone?

I didn't check that I have to admit. My bike stays in my mum and dad's garage, but next time I'm there I'll check it.

What would you expect it to be at 5000 revs?

Readings

 Average at 5,000rpm is approx. 14.6 volts,

If yours is touching 15v I would be concerned.

Thanks, I checked you thread on Technical. I'm going to take the bike from my father's garage, at their house, to his workshop garage where I can get it up on the lift and check it properly. After it was charged it seemed to be holding the charge pretty well but I'll check it on the start button and also at 5000 revs, may as well check the reg/rec while I'm at it. It may just have simply been that the battery went down a bit with sitting about, I've been spending more time lately working at the KTM.

Update

So I looked it over today, I think it was fogie who suggested to check the electrolyte levels. I did that and it needed a bit of topping up, only a little to bring it just above the plates. So I got some de-ionised water and a turkey baster and went to work.

I then put the battery on charge, within a couple of minutes the charger was showing full charge. I allowed it to stay on charge while I got the reg/rec off the bike to test it. The readings are as follows:

Positive side;
615....616....609 and in reverse they all showed zero

Ground side;
545....545....562 and in reverse they also were all zero.

The battery then went back in the bike and I measured it at rest, just over 13v (just off charger)

At idle; 14.56v

At 5k RPM; hovering around the 14v mark.

After all this the battery at rest was 12.5v, then when the ignition was turned to ON it went down to 11.7v, and when the starter button was pressed it dipped momentarily to 9.2v then climbed quickly back up to 14.5v at idle again.

I'm convinced all is good.

Any thoughts?
