Marquez and Pedrosa hoping Brno remains on MotoGP calendar

Repsol Honda duo Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa have both said they hope the fast and technical Brno circuit remains on the MotoGP world championship schedule after 2014. Doubts have been cast about the future of the Czech Republic round, with track officials unsure if a government subsidy of around £900,000 to help host the event will still be made available...

... best be careful with the crowd figures Birt - Jerez is still under investigation for alleged tax-fraud.

Oh No

Those poor circuit owners , maybe we could start a charity (tax exempt ) to pay them when theres no GP there Perhaps they could compete in the market place and maybe join the rest of us in the real world

Well Alex ...

... if it's true, as Speedweek suggest, then I'm shocked and appalled. Ducati disgust me.

Why the hell............

does Brno need 900,000 quids in subsidy when the place is a full house every year???

Either something very fishy is going on (and we will have to consult with GP's top fisherman from Aus) or Dorna are charging them the earth for the pleasure and packed hill sides!

Outrageous! Get White Dee and the benefits street mob on the case, they will sort the govt handout....

Save Brno!!!

Sanction fees vs Attendance..

Qatar are rumoured to pay twice as much as anyone else, with only 8000 through the gates.

Dorna cut Jerez' fee from 4.5 to 2.7 million Euro in 2013. It is the 2nd best attended GP, a way behind Brno.

220,000 fans last year attending Brno- at a conservative 20€ per head/per day - works out to 4.4 million..in gate money.

I think Abraham and Ezpeleta are trying to keep the Government onboard - for a handy million Euros pure profit - on the back of MotoGP being so popular there.

We've had the same question marks about Sachsenring & Phillip Island..Bradl is considered an important marketing tool and Jack Miller's being touted for direct progression to the top class because..they will sell more tickets and Carmello can negotiate knowing this.

Cardion race, they own an iconic circuit with 220k fans spending hard cash - they are in a strong position.

Qatar

Shouldn't be on the calender due to the pitiful attendance.

As for subsidies/benefits/back-handers..............'tis the way of the world is it not? Shame.
