Honda xr 2007 125 gear problems NEED HELP!

:mad::biggrin:Hi everyone

I bought a Honda xr 125 and it is every very hard to change into second gear! When I change into second gear the just raves really high ! And the man I bought it from said I don't need to use the clutch going up the gears but I do when I'm going down and he said he has been doing that for 7 years ! Also he said via text that I have to kinda high rave the bike to click it into second gear!
What should I do and what is the problem

Welcome dairebrady, have you any other problems like the bike jolting forwards when selecting 1st gear from standing?

It`s a trail type bike so what up and down play have you got in the drive chain in the middle of the bottom  run?

Sounds like your selecting neutral when changing to second, the engine needs to be revving a bit when changing with the clutch, in other words don`t shut off the throttle before pulling the clutch lever.
