Bimota shutdown confirmed

AN ITALIAN court has finally brought an end to Bimota’s drawn-out death, closing the struggling company for good.

After more than 25 years of producing some of the most desirable bikes on the planet, the firm has been forced to close its gates due to massive debts.

Two buy-out bids – one by Bimota’s US importers MotoPoint and another from a French consortium – both continued until the 11th hour, but having already postponed Bimota’s demise several times, the court finally called it a day.

Any remaining stocks are now expected to be sold off along with the rest of the company’s assets in an attempt to satisfy creditors.

The trademark could yet be bought and used by another bike firm.
