Hub centre steering is not new!

I can’t believe people think that the Vyrus bikes are a new concept. Hub centre steering has been about since way back.

Look at Jack Defazios bikes from the 60s and the late 70s. As for Vyrus having a Ducati engine, Defazio made a 750 Ducati engined hub centre steered bike in 1974. I own one!

When I first got the bike people used to snub it, but over the years it’s become quite a star at the shows. Seems anything a bit unusual attracts attention these days. I have always loved the bike and love riding it.

I admire Defazio as an engineer and for having the guts to do something out of the ordinary. So as far as the Vyrus is concerned I can take it or leave it, it’s nothing new to me. My bike was the original, and it never cost me £64,000!

My bike won a third prize in the Ducati garage challenge, at the World Ducati Week in 2007, My prize was a signed and mounted screen off Loris Capirossi’s 2007 race bike. Casey Stoner and Giancarlo Falappa also signed it and they all presented me with it.

There is a YouTube clip of the awards somewhere. Hope this is of interest, Keith Williams.
