Our Experience of Wootton Bassett

1 of 2

We arrived at the airfield at half ten in the morning after travelling down from Liverpool the previous day.

Because of the sheer number of people there we did not leave for the ride till four in the afternoon.

Although we were a little bit fed up after the long wait, that soon subsided when we saw the amount of people who had lined the streets along the route to cheer and clap.

Some of them looked as if they had been there all day with flasks and camping chairs set up.

A great day and it goes to show the strength of feeling for the families of the soldiers doing such a tough job in the face of public criticism of the war.
