Motorcyclists are being offered the chance to win a bike worth £12,000 for doing a safe riding course taught by police.

A scooter worth up to £2000 is also on offer in the initiative to improve motorcycle safety in London. Winners will get to choose the bike or scooter model they want up to the prize value.

Three runners up will win bike clothing worth up to £1000.

Another six winners will get £500 helmets.

The competition is open to riders who take part in a BikeSafe-London course before the end of November.

The one-day £45 courses are run by Transport for London (TfL) and taught by police riders.

The prizes, worth £20,000 in total, have been provided by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCI).

TfL’s Ben Plowden said: “By running this competition with the MCI, we hope to encourage the capital’s motorcyclists to improve their skills and raise awareness of motorcyclists to all road users across London.”

MCI Chief Executive Steve Kenward said: “Encouraging motorcycle and scooter riders to constantly develop their riding skill levels is essential.”
