Roberts and Gardner confirmed for Goodwood

Grand prix legends Kenny Roberts and Wayne Gardner are the latest stars to be confirmed for this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Three times 500cc world champion Roberts will be riding his 1980 Yamaha YZR500, and 1987 world champion Gardner on his Honda GP bike, will be in attendance at all three days of the event which takes place June 28- July 1 2012 at Goodwood House, West Sussex.

Other riders confirmed at the event include MotoGP’s British hopefuls Cal Crutchlow and James Ellison; Guy Martin, Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and James Toseland. Steve Parrish will also be at the event riding team mate Barry Sheene’s bike, as well as a number of famous faces from Formula 1 and Rally.

The weekend action focuses on the 1.16 mile hill climb plus alongside will be a number of displays with the theme ‘Young Guns – Born to Win’, which this year includes a celebration of the two-stroke with a Harley Davidson 350RR and a Honda NS500.

The most powerful MotoGP bike of all time, Sete Gibernau’s 2006 Ducati MotoGP, will also be present. There will also be a demonstration of motocross and trial motorbikes.
